School System Placing Gravel After Heavy Rain Causes Flooding at Lott Middle School
Officials with the Mobile County Public School System said Tuesday that steps have been made to ease the problems created by flooding at Lott Middle School in Citronelle. School board commissioner Doug Harwell said gravel and rock will be installed at the school to create walking paths for students and staff.

Capital murder trial to begin today for woman accused of torturing, killing DeBlase...
Heather Leavell-Keaton, 26, is charged in the 2010 deaths of Natalie DeBlase, 4, and her brother, Chase DeBlase, 3. Her trial is set for later this year. Leavell-Keaton is the common law wife of the children's father, John DeBlase, 31. Opening arguments are set to begin at about 1:15 p.m. Friday in Mobile County Circuit Court in the capital murder trial of a 26-year-old woman accused of torturing and killing the DeBlase siblings.

Heather Keaton's capital murder trial goes to jury
The fate of Heather Leavell-Keaton, the woman accused of poisoning her common law husband's two young children with anti-freeze, is up to the jury. Closing arguments in her capital murder trial ended on Tuesday in Mobile County Circuit Court with prosecutors alleging that Leavell-Keaton wanted to get rid of John DeBlase's two young children, Natalie and Chase, so that she and John could start a new life with their then unborn child.

Teen Girl Killed in Crash Near Citronelle
A 17-year-old Theodore girl was killed Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 45 just south of Bud Odom Road when the sedan she was driving collided with a tractor-trailer, Citronelle police said. The victim's name was not released pending notification of her family.

Sentencing set for woman convicted in Ala. child deaths
Heather Keaton was found guilty of capital murder Wednesday in the death of 3-year-old Chase DeBlase and manslaughter in the death of 4-year-old Natalie DeBlase. Keaton's sentencing is set to begin Thursday morning.

A young woman died in a traffic accident after she apparently pulled out in front of a semi-truck while using her phone Tuesday afternoon, according to the Citronelle Police Department . Facing death for same child murders, John DeBlase pleads Fifthin Keaton capital sentencing
Six months after being sentenced to die for killing his two young children, John DeBlase refused to testify against the woman, his former common-law wife, who helped him kill at least one of them. On Wednesday, Heather Leavell-Keaton was found guilty of the capital murder of 3-year-old Chase DeBlase, whose body was found in a copse of south Mississippi trees in 2010.

Two Mobile County men arrested as part of child predator investigation
The 61 Internet Crimes Against Children Task Forces across the nation -- including the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's ICAC Task Force -- in April launched a two-month joint effort called Operation Broken Heart II, resulting in the arrest of nine child predators in Alabama and the seizure of numerous digital devices containing child pornography. A coordinated effort by law enforcement representing more than 3,000 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, Operation Broken Heart II was designed to arrest as many child predators as possible and to promote Internet safety education and outreach.

Three Citronelle Men Arrested After Leaving Man for Dead
Three Citronelle men have been arrested and charged with kidnapping, assault and robbery in a case involving drug buying, authorities said. Jeremy Allan Weaver, 26, Tremaine Johnson, 34, and Joseph Halle McKinney Jr., 27, were arrested after being accused of robbing, beating, kidnapping and leaving a Chunchula man for dead on Sunday, Citronelle police said.

Heather Keaton first woman sentenced to death in Mobile County
Heather Keaton, who was convicted of killing her two stepchildren, was sentenced to death on capital murder and manslaughter charges on Thursday. The judge read the death penalty sentence for the killing of Jonathan and Natalie DeBlase.

Mobile County teenager partially ejected in crash, dies at the scene
A Mobile County teenager was killed early Saturday morning when the car he was riding in left the roadway and overturned. Donald Coleman, 18, of Citronelle wasn't wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the 2008 Nissan Altima during the crash which occurred at around 2:20 a.m., according to Alabama state troopers.

Man injured in building collapse
A Citronelle man was injured Thursday afternoon when the roof of a former feed store collapsed on him, according to Citronelle police. Porter Dewayne Causey, 48, was airlifted to Mobile Infirmary for treatment after the roof of the former store at 211 N. Mobile St. fell on him, the police report said.

Husband, wife and unborn son murdered in brutal attack
Chelsea Reed 22, and her husband, 23-year-old Justin Reed, were two of the victims who police say were "brutally murdered" early Saturday morning in a Citronelle home. Justin's cousin, Wesley Risher, wants people to remember the couple for their love, and not for how they were taken away.

Man suspected of killing five, seizing girlfriend
The suspect in the killing of five people at a home in Alabama attacked them while they slept and then abducted his estranged girlfriend and an infant - both of whom were found alive, authorities said Sunday. It could take investigators days to sort out the grisly murder scene in Citronelle, a small town 30 miles northwest of Mobile.

Sheriff: 5 slain in Alabama massacre included pregnant woman
